Zero Tolerance for Fake Products! SMOK is Always Ready to Crack Down on the Counterfeits

As a world-renowned E-cigarette brand, SMOK has adhered to its philosophy of business and valued “ingenuity” all along. The company puts great effort into combating counterfeit goods and making sure customers is served with safe and healthy products. In view of current patchy ENDS market with consumers being confused by all forms of foul plays, SMOK takes the initiative to come down hard on fake products and stand up for consumer rights. SMOK’s action not only cemented its brand reputation, but also rebuilt the confidence of the industry as well as strongly promoted the positive image of ENDS products.

As early as 2018, when counterfeiters targeted at ENDS industry and tried to take a free ride on SMOK, the company has started swift actions to fight back. Back then, SMOK has set up an anti-counterfeiting taskforce, coordinating IPR protection companies and the police, establishing a “fast-track”for investigation, in order to fight against fake products online and offline. In the past year, SMOK has taken 8 actions against counterfeiting in places such as Shenzhen Bao’an district and Dongguan City, seizing up to 47,000 copycat goods totaling 10 million RMB, swooped on over 10 illegal dens and arrested dozens of suspects.

The case has already been handed over to the law enforcement department of Dongguan Public Security.

The company seized nearly 600 pieces of fake “SMOK” products with a total value of about RMB 370,000. Shenzhen Bao’an Public Security Sub-bureau approved the arrest of the suspects, and related persons were transferred to Bao'an Detention Center on January 10, 2019.

On November 23, 2018, SMOK's anti-counterfeiting action achieved a new breakthrough. In Room 502, Hengbang Technology Building, Xinhe Road, Chang'an Town, Dongguan, SMOK, together with the police force, smashed the counterfeiting spot of Dongguan Zhongheng Electronics Co., Ltd. and seized more than 23,000 fake products with “SMOK”logo, totaling about 2.5 million yuan. The case caused a great response widely. On December 20, 2018, Dongguan Public Security Bureau approved the arrest of the suspect and transferred him to Dongguan Second Detention Center for custody.

On June 1, 2018, on the 3rd floor of No. 150 Songming Avenue, Wenwu Village, Hongxing Community, Songgang Street, Bao'an District, Shenzhen, about 3,000 bogus SMOK products were seized, with a total value of over RMB 370,000. Similarly, the case was accepted on August 24, 2018 at Shenzhen Baoan People's Procuratorate.

On May 28, 2018, at No. 126, west side old region, Buyong New Village, Shajing Town, Bao'an District, Shenzhen, the company, jointly with the police, seized more than 600 counterfeit SMOK products from Shenzhen Vannidi Technology Co., Ltd., with a total value of about 200,000 RMB. The case was accepted at Shenzhen Baoan People's Procuratorate on August 24, 2018.

On August 19, 2019, Shenzhen Baoan People's Court held a trial on a case of selling copycat products under the SMOK trademark on Alibaba platform. Participants in the trial included relevant leaders of Bao’an People's Court, CPPCC members, and NPC members. In addition, various media reporters also attended and publicized the trial via 5G live broadcast. The infringer was sentenced to pay SMOK company RMB 40,000 in fines and to stop the violation. The trial is a crucial node on SMOK’s anti-counterfeiting roadmap, demonstrating that all sectors of society are concerned about the counterfeiting in ENDS industry. Meanwhile, SMOK also manifests its zero-tolerance attitude to infringement and counterfeiting, which sets an example for the industry and society.

In order to further protect consumer rights, in March 2019, SMOK officially applied its latest anti-counterfeiting technology-a new laser anti-counterfeiting label-to its products, as a prelude of the coming World Consumer Rights Day (March 15th). This new type of label incorporates front-end technology to the anti-counterfeiting system, which is easy to identify and extremely difficult to imitate. This label effectively complements the back-end anti-counterfeiting technology, and further advances the AB code technology adopted at the beginning. The new technology ensures a banknote-level security, making high-tech a strong backing for anti-counterfeiting.

In addition to strengthening the collaborative anti-counterfeiting mechanism and the taskforce, SMOK goes on exploring an anti-counterfeiting pathway via Internet, building up a counterfeiting risk prevention and control system, and introducing emerging technologies like big data, AI, blockchain, etc. SMOK aims at curbing fake goods and their sales from the source, hence gives back a sound and harmonious market to the ENDS industry.

Anti-counterfeiting, pursuing product health and safety is a long-lasting battle, and the actions carried out by SMOK are raising the awareness of consumer rights protection, and changing the patchy pattern of the market profoundly. Meanwhile, SMOK’s practices also works as an impetus to enhance the quality of ENDS products and guide the industry onto a healthier and safer track. “Zero-counterfeit” is a shared ideal of the whole society and the unremitting pursuit of SMOK as well as e-cigarette industry.
